How we build these lists
Each list comes from Google Maps searches for the category across London (the City, Mayfair, Kensington, Canary Wharf, Westminster and the Heathrow side of west London). We keep companies whose Google category matches, drop airports, car parks, rental desks and closed businesses, and keep one listing per website when a company has several branches.
Companies are ranked by their Google rating weighted by the number of reviews, so a 4.9 from twelve reviews does not beat a 4.8 from several hundred. A company needs at least 15 reviews to be ranked. Positions in the ranking are not for sale.
Private Driver London publishes this directory and is a chauffeur company itself. We show our own service in a separate, labelled box and never rank ourselves. To correct or remove a listing, e-mail us.
Every private hire operator in London needs a licence from Transport for London. Check any company with the TfL licence checker before you book.
