If you are searching for Heathrow to St Pancras, you probably have a Eurostar to catch, and the time between your landing and your check-in matters. We provide a private driver for the transfer: a chauffeur meets you at Heathrow, loads your bags and drives you to St Pancras International, with no changes on the way. The same service runs in reverse from St Pancras to the airport.
How far is Heathrow from St Pancras?
By road it is 18 miles (29 km), about 45 minutes without traffic. That is a best-case figure. The A4, the Westway and the roads around King’s Cross all slow down at peak times, so your driver allows extra time on the day. You can open the route in Google Maps and check it against live traffic.
From other airports the figures are:
- Gatwick to St Pancras: 32 miles (52 km), about 1 hour 20 minutes without traffic.
- London City Airport to St Pancras: 9 miles (15 km), about 35 minutes without traffic.
Heathrow to St Pancras by tube, train or car
Heathrow to St Pancras by tube means the Piccadilly line, which runs direct from the airport to King’s Cross St Pancras station next door. It needs no change, but it makes many stops and it is a slow ride when you are pulling cases past commuters. You can check the line status on the Transport for London website.
The Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express are faster into central London, but neither stops at St Pancras, so you change at least once. Heathrow publishes the current rail options and the connection to St Pancras on its rail travel page.
| Option | Changes | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Piccadilly line | None | One person, light luggage, lowest cost |
| Elizabeth line or Heathrow Express | At least one | Speed into central London |
| Private driver | None | Groups, families, heavy luggage, a Eurostar check-in to meet |
Why a private driver suits a Eurostar connection
A cross-Channel train is a fixed departure, and check-in closes ahead of it. Check the latest check-in time for your ticket on the Eurostar website. Then work backwards: landing, passport control, baggage reclaim, the drive and the walk into the station.
A chauffeur helps in three ways:
- One leg, no interchanges, so there are fewer places to lose time.
- The driver waits for you. The first hour of waiting on airport pick-ups is free, which covers a normal wait for bags.
- The price is fixed, VAT included, so a slow A4 does not change what you pay.
If your flight is early and your train is mid-morning, you may have slack. If it is tight, a car is the safest choice we can offer, though no one can promise the traffic.
St Pancras to Heathrow and the other airports
Travellers also come the other way: a Eurostar arrives at St Pancras and a flight leaves from Heathrow, Gatwick or London City. We collect you at St Pancras and drive you to the terminal. See our pages for Heathrow, Gatwick and London City Airport.
If you are travelling on to Paris by road instead of rail, ask about our London to Paris private driver service, which is quoted on request.
Cars for your group
Most Eurostar transfers are two to four people with bags. Choose the car by the luggage as much as the headcount.
- Mercedes E-Class or BMW 5 Series, up to 3 passengers
- Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series, up to 3 passengers
- Mercedes V-Class or VW Transporter, up to 8 passengers
- Range Rover, up to 4 passengers
- Mercedes Sprinter minibus, up to 16 passengers, quoted on request
For a family with a pushchair and several cases, the V-Class is the car we would suggest. For bigger groups, see minibus and coach hire.
St Pancras station: where to be dropped and picked up
St Pancras International is a large station with its own road layout, and its drop-off and pick-up points can change with building work or station rules. Look at the station’s official information before you travel, and tell us your Eurostar departure time so your driver can plan the approach. On a pick-up, we agree a meeting point with you in advance so you are not searching for the car with bags in tow.
If you are coming from Heathrow, the approach is via the A4 and the Euston Road, which are among the busiest roads in central London. That is why we set the pick-up time with a safety margin rather than the best-case drive time.
Heathrow terminal and arrivals
Heathrow has several terminals, and the meeting arrangement depends on yours. Give us the flight number and terminal when you book. The driver meets you after you clear arrivals, and the first hour of waiting is free, which covers a normal wait at passport control and baggage reclaim.
Gatwick and London City to St Pancras
The journey from Gatwick to St Pancras is longer, 32 miles and about 1 hour 20 minutes without traffic, and it runs through south London, where traffic is heavy at peak hours. From London City Airport it is a short 9 miles, but the route crosses the east of the city. In both cases a car saves you changing at a busy interchange with luggage.
A note on leaving enough time
We would rather you waited a little at the station than risked missing your train. Allow generous time between landing and your check-in deadline, and keep in mind that a delay on the flight can change everything. If it does, tell us and we will adjust the pick-up. Remember too that an advance rail ticket can be tied to a specific train, so check the conditions of your ticket.
What the transfer costs
St Pancras transfers are quoted on request, so we show no figure here. We give you one fixed price before you book, VAT included. Tell us the airport or address, the date and time, the number of travellers and the cases. For how we price other trips, see the prices page.
How to book
- Use the form below or the contact page.
- Give the pick-up point, the date and the time of your flight or train.
- Add the number of passengers and the luggage.
- For an airport pick-up, add the flight number.
- We send a fixed price, VAT included, and you confirm.
If your Eurostar or flight changes, let us know as soon as you can so we can adjust the pick-up time.
