If you are asking how to get to Twickenham Stadium, the honest answer is that the train is the standard way, and it works well for most fans. A chauffeur is the alternative for people who want to avoid the crowds on the platform, travel as a group or family, or arrive from Heathrow or a hotel with luggage.
What is on at Twickenham Stadium
Allianz Stadium Twickenham is the home of England rugby and the largest rugby stadium in the world. England’s home internationals are played there. In the 2027 Guinness Men’s Six Nations, England host France on Sunday 14 February (15:10 kick-off), Italy on Saturday 20 February and Scotland on Saturday 13 March, as England Rugby announced; the autumn internationals follow in November. The stadium also hosts other rugby fixtures and concerts, so check the official stadium website for what is on and the kick-off time for your date.
There is no dress code. People wear a replica shirt or smart-casual clothes, and a waterproof layer is sensible because you queue outside in all weathers.
How to get to Twickenham Stadium by train
The stadium’s travel page gives Twickenham rail station as the closest, about a 10-minute walk. South Western Railway runs direct trains from London Waterloo, stopping at stations including Vauxhall and Clapham Junction, and its Twickenham Stadium page lists the timetable.
Whitton and Hounslow stations are further away, around 20 and 30 minutes on foot. Hounslow East is the nearest Tube station on the official list, and Richmond has both rail and Tube. If you start from King’s Cross or Euston, the simplest route is to link across to Waterloo or Clapham Junction and use the TfL journey planner for the day, because engineering works are common at weekends.
Getting to Twickenham Stadium by bus
Several bus routes stop about a minute from the stadium, including the 281 and 110, according to the stadium. The 281 and 481 can be diverted on match days because of road closures, so check the route before you rely on it.
How to get to Twickenham Stadium by car
By road, the stadium is off the A316 at the Whitton Road roundabout, reached from the M25 at junction 12 and the M3. The official advice is to allow extra time at peak hours. Parking on match day must be pre-booked through the official ticketing site, so the availability and the price are set there. The stadium travel page also flags ULEZ for the area, so check the TfL ULEZ page for your vehicle.
This is where a chauffeur solves a real problem. We do the driving and the finding of the drop-off, and there is no car park to book or walk back to.
A chauffeur to Twickenham: how the day works
Hourly hire means the car and chauffeur are yours for the hours you book. The chauffeur collects you at your home, hotel or office, drives to the drop-off area for your gate and waits while you are at the match. You decide when to leave, and you are driven home or to dinner.
Your chauffeur will be briefed on the stadium’s published arrangements for taxis and private hire, which are on the official Twickenham site. Where the organiser gives a drop-off point for your ticket type, we use it and tell you where to meet the car. After a big match the area around the stadium takes time to clear, and the stadium itself staggers crowds out with a queueing system. That is a good moment to sit in the Fan Village rather than hurry to the car, and your chauffeur simply waits.
What a Twickenham chauffeur costs
Twickenham is inside London, so the London hourly rate applies: £60 an hour in an E-Class, £75 in an S-Class or V-Class and £95 in a Range Rover, with a 4-hour minimum, VAT included.
For a match day, we estimate 6.5 hours (35 minutes each way plus five hours at the stadium): £390 in an E-Class, £488 in an S-Class or V-Class and £618 in a Range Rover. That is the price of the car, not per person, and it is agreed before you book. A V-Class takes up to 8 people and a Range Rover takes 4, so a group often finds the car competitive with separate rail fares. The full table is on the prices page.
If your match runs late or you want dinner afterwards, extra time is charged at the same hourly rate and we will confirm the total first.
Coming from Heathrow or abroad
Heathrow is about 7 miles from the stadium, around 20 minutes without traffic. If you are flying in for the match, we can collect you at the airport, take you to the hotel and then to the stadium. See our Heathrow airport transfer page for how pick-ups work; the first hour of waiting on airport pick-ups is free. Other airports are quoted on request.
For a corporate group or a large party, a Mercedes Sprinter minibus takes up to 16 passengers and is quoted on request; see coach and minibus hire.
How to book your Twickenham chauffeur
- Use the form below or our contact page with the date, kick-off time, pick-up address and number of passengers.
- Tell us the stand or gate on your ticket and whether you want a return from the same place.
- We send a fixed price, VAT included, with the car that fits your group.
- Your chauffeur arrives at the agreed time and waits during the match.
If you would like to see a second event with the same service, our Wimbledon tennis chauffeur page works the same way, and the chauffeur service page explains hourly hire in general.
Match day or concert: what to plan for
Twickenham is also used for other events, and the travel advice is much the same. For a big rugby international the area is busy for hours, buses are diverted and the trains from Waterloo fill early. We suggest you plan to arrive at least an hour before kick-off, longer if you want food and a drink in the Fan Village first.
If you are with a corporate group or you are hosting guests, the chauffeur can also make one or two pick-ups on the way, for example a hotel in Kensington and an office in the City, before heading west. Tell us all the addresses when you ask for a quote and we will add the time to the hours.
Practical tips for match day
Tickets and entry rules are set by the stadium, so read the official plan your visit information before you leave. Bring a bag small enough to go under your seat, or leave it at home if you can. If you are travelling in a group, agree a meeting point in the Fan Village in case phones run out of signal in the crowd.
Whichever way you travel, build in margin. A match day is not a day to cut it fine, and a chauffeur gives you that margin because the car is waiting.
